Award Winning Mavericks do it again!!!! Seven Awards Won at 13th Annual Cappie Awards

Southwest Ranches, FL…May 28, 2015….  Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School won seven awards during the 13th Annual Cappie Awards held at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts.  Archbishop McCarthy received not just the coveted Best Play Award, but also the Best Actor, Best Comedic Actor, Supporting Actor, Featured Actress, and Best Manager.

“We are so proud to consistently achieve a high level of dedication and accomplishment from our students; it is deeply gratifying,” stated Cindy Keegan, of Archbishop McCarthy High School who is a Multiple Award Winning Writer, Director and 35 year Veteran of the craft . “In addition to their daily academics, our theater students have numerous opportunities to follow their interests as writers, actors, critical thinkers, and leaders, The Cappies celebrate the best in high school theater,” concluded Keegan.  Archbishop McCarthy has participated in the Cappies for eight years.

The Cappies recognize outstanding creative achievement and awards are given in 42 categories, with honors going to performers, designers, technicians and student critics.  The Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School winners were…..

  • Best Play – “A Few Good Men”
  • Best Actor – Eric Maltz from Miami Lakes
  • Best Comedic Actor – Kevin Fitzpatrick from Plantation
  • Supporting Actor – Matthew Salas from Plantation
  • Featured Actress – Alexandria Palazzo from Pembroke Pines
  • Featured Actor – Juan Arcila from Miramar
  • Best Stage Manager – Christine Fanchini from Pembroke Pines

“Once again the Mavericks received accolades for doing outstanding work,” said Richard P. Jean, Principal.
